recognize的基本意思是“認(rèn)出”,指根據(jù)事物的特征而覺(jué)察到、辨認(rèn)出或認(rèn)可某一現(xiàn)象存在。引申表示“承認(rèn)”“確認(rèn)”“辨認(rèn)”,指某人注意到、認(rèn)定某事物的真實(shí)性、重要性、責(zé)任感、能力、學(xué)識(shí)等或某人、國(guó)家對(duì)某人〔事〕的認(rèn)可并承認(rèn)其具有合法性,強(qiáng)調(diào)實(shí)際上地、明確地承認(rèn),而非形式上或文學(xué)上的承認(rèn)。有時(shí)recognize還可作“準(zhǔn)許…發(fā)言”解,往往指會(huì)議主席允許某人發(fā)言。
recognize是及物動(dòng)詞,接名詞或代詞作賓語(yǔ),也可接that從句或疑問(wèn)詞從句作賓語(yǔ)。
recognize可接to be/as+ n./adj. 充當(dāng)補(bǔ)足語(yǔ)的復(fù)合賓語(yǔ),意思是“認(rèn)出…是…”或“承認(rèn)〔確認(rèn)〕…是…”,as和to be不可省略。
