Consider...YOU. In all time before now and in all time to come, there has never been and will never be anyone just like you. You are unique in the entire history and future of the universe. Wow! Stop and think about that. You're better than one in a million, or a billion, or a gazillion…

You are the only one like you in a sea of infinity!

You're amazing! You're awesome! And by the way, TAG, you're it. As amazing and awesome as you already are, you can be even more so. Beautiful young people are the whimsey of nature, but beautiful old people are true works of art. But you don't become "beautiful" just by virtue of the aging process.

Real beauty comes from learning, growing, and loving in the ways of life. That is the Art of Life. You can learn slowly, and sometimes painfully, by just waiting for life to happen to you. Or you can choose to accelerate your growth and intentionally devour life and all it offers. You are the artist that paints your future with the brush of today.

      Paint a Masterpiece.

God gives every bird its food, but he doesn't throw it into its nest. Wherever you want to go, whatever you want to do, it's truly up to you.

Don’t wait for someday. This is the day, this is the moment, and this is your opportunity to live.

Let go of any thoughts of limitation. You deserve every joy you can imagine and you’re fully able of creating them all. Stop settling for what’s only easy or comfortable or convenient. Give yourself the respect you deserve and take on the difficult challenges that bring real fulfilment1.

Give your life some beautiful and meaningful substance2 today. Remind yourself of how fortunate you are to have each moment, and sincerely fill those moments with richness.

Admit and be thankful for what you desire to experience, to express, to give and to live. Then, fully use the power of your purpose and make it happen. The best of life is never out of reach. It is yours to fulfil, right now.

I have a friend named Monty Roberts who owns a horse ranch in San Ysidro. He has let me use his house to put on fund-raising events to raise money for youth at risk programs.

The last time I was there he introduced me by saying, "I want to tell you why I let Jack use my house. It all goes back to a story about a young man who was the son of an itinerant horse trainer who would go from stable to stable, race track to race track, farm to farm and ranch to ranch, training horses. As a result, the boy"s high school career was continually interrupted. When he was a senior, he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up.

"That night he wrote a seven-page paper describing his goal of someday owning a horse ranch. He wrote about his dream in great detail and he even drew a diagram of a 200-acre ranch, showing the location of all the buildings, the stables and the track. Then he drew a detailed floor plan for a 4,000-square-foot house that would sit on a 200-acre dream ranch.

"He put a great deal of his heart into the project and the next day he handed it in to his teacher. Two days later he received his paper back. On the front page was a large red F with a note that read, `See me after class."

"The boy with the dream went to see the teacher after class and asked, `Why did I receive an F?"

"The teacher said, `This is an unrealistic dream for a young boy like you. You have no money. You come from an itinerant family. You have no resources. Owning a horse ranch requires a lot of money. You have to buy the land. You have to pay for the original breeding stock and later you"ll have to pay large stud fees. There"s no way you could ever do it.’ Then the teacher added, `If you will rewrite this paper with a more realistic goal, I will reconsider your grade.’

"The boy went home and thought about it long and hard. He asked his father what he should do. His father said, `Look, son, you have to make up your own mind on this. However, I think it is a very important decision for you.’

"Finally, after sitting with it for a week, the boy turned in the same paper, making no changes at all. He stated, `You can keep the F and I"ll keep my dream.""

Monty then turned to the assembled group and said, "I tell you this story because you are sitting in my 4,000-square-foot house in the middle of my 200-acre horse ranch. I still have that school paper framed over the fireplace." He added, "The best part of the story is that two summers ago that same schoolteacher brought 30 kids to camp out on my ranch for a week." When the teacher was leaving, he said, `Look, Monty, I can tell you this now. When I was your teacher, I was something of a dream stealer. During those years I stole a lot of kids’ dreams. Fortunately you had enough gumption not to give up on yours.’"

Don"t let anyone steal your dreams. Follow your heart, no matter what.

However hard the situation is, we shouldn't lose our heart, because we have our dreams. Our dreams are always glorious. We also have enthusiasm that will make our dreams come true. But we must have the willingness to work hard, since if we work hard, some miracles will happen. Nothing good will happen without our hard work.

What's more, when we are unhappy, we can think about our dreams, so that we will be more enthusiastic. When we are defeated, we should stand up and say," I'm not a failure." Please remember, " Anything is possible to a man who has a strong determination."

To see the golden sun and the azure sky, the outstretched ocean, to walk upon the green earth, and to be lord of a thousand creatures, to look down giddy precipices or over distant flowery vales, to see the world spread out under one's finger in a map, to bring the stars near, to view the smallest insects in a microscope, to read history, and witness the revolutions of empires and the succession of generations, to hear of the glory of Simon and Tire, of Babylon and Susan, as of a faded pageant, and to say all these were, and are now nothing, to think that we exist in such a point of time ,and in such a corner of space, to be at once spectators and a part of the moving scene, to watch the return of the seasons, of spring and autumn, to hear---

The stock dove plain amid the forest deep,

That drowsy rustles to the sighing gale.

---to traverse desert wilderness, to listen to the dungeon's gloom, or sit in crowded theatres and see life itself mocked, to feel heat and cold, pleasure and pain, right and wrong, truth and falsehood, to study the works of art and refine the sense of beauty to agony, to worship fame and to dream of immortality, to have read Shakespeare and Beloit to the same species as Sir Isaac Newton; to be and to do all this, and then in a moment to be nothing, to have it all snatched from one like a juggler's ball or a phantasmagoria……

      我們看到金色的太陽,蔚藍的天空,廣闊的海洋;我們漫步在綠油油的大地之上,做萬物的主人 ;我們俯視令人目炫心悸的懸崖峭壁,遠眺鮮花盛開的山谷;我們把地圖攤開,任意指點全球 ;我們把星辰移到眼前觀看,還在顯微鏡下觀察極其微小的生物;我們學歷史,親自目睹帝國的興亡、時代的交替;我們聽人談論西頓、推羅、巴比倫和蘇撒的勛業(yè),如同聽一番往昔的盛會,聽了之后,我們說:這些事確實發(fā)生過,但現(xiàn)在卻是過眼云煙了;我們思考著自己生活的時代、生活的地區(qū);我們在人生的活動舞臺上既當觀眾、又當演員;我們觀察四季更迭、春秋代序 ;我們聽見了——

      野鴿在濃密的樹林中哀訴,

      樹林隨微風的嘆息而低語 ;

      我們橫絕大漠;我們傾聽子夜的歌聲 ;我們光顧燈火輝煌的廳堂,走下陰森森的地牢,或者坐在萬頭攢動的劇院里觀看生活本身受到的摹擬;我們親身感受炎熱和寒冷,快樂和痛苦,正義和邪惡,真理和謬誤 ;我們鉆研藝術作品,把自己的美感提高到極其敏銳的程度 ;我們崇拜榮譽,夢想不朽 ;我們閱讀莎士比亞,或者把自己和牛頓爵士視為同一族類 ;——正當我們面臨這一切、從事這一切的時候,自己卻在一剎那之間化為虛無,眼前的一切,象是魔術師手中的圓球,象是一場幻影,一下子全都消失得無影無蹤.....
