一、個(gè)人基本情況
與個(gè)人簡(jiǎn)歷不同,這里的個(gè)人基本情況是要著重表述個(gè)人的學(xué)習(xí)和工作期間的主要業(yè)績(jī)。
二、申請(qǐng)?jiān)?/p>
明確闡述申請(qǐng)某某學(xué)校以及某某專業(yè)的理由,要告訴校方這個(gè)學(xué)校為什么吸引你,學(xué)習(xí)這個(gè)專業(yè)對(duì)你有什么幫助。
三、未來職業(yè)構(gòu)想
具體說明在畢業(yè)之后,你準(zhǔn)備從事的工作。切忌使用貢獻(xiàn)、奉獻(xiàn)、報(bào)效之類空洞的詞匯,而應(yīng)該表明去什么企業(yè)、公司,在什么職位上負(fù)責(zé)什么工作,并且最好把預(yù)期的年薪也寫出來。也許很多學(xué)生會(huì)說:以后的事情現(xiàn)在怎么能知道?其實(shí),學(xué)校就是想了解你是否有明確的求學(xué)目的,并允許學(xué)生有根據(jù)、符合邏輯的設(shè)想。
另外,在申請(qǐng)高等商學(xué)院的時(shí)候,學(xué)校還會(huì)特意讓學(xué)生談?wù)勛约旱膬?yōu)缺點(diǎn)和性格特征。
注:留學(xué)動(dòng)機(jī)信一定要具體并且全文貫通、有前因和后果,按照西方人的說法就是有邏輯性。在撰文時(shí),一定要以具體事例配合你所表達(dá)的中心思想,使文章顯得生動(dòng)??傊痪湓挘壕唧w、生動(dòng)、邏輯性強(qiáng)、中心思想明確。
最后說一下篇幅。一般來講,一篇PS以2頁(yè)為宜。如果明確知道自己的申請(qǐng)條件有硬傷(如無(wú)專業(yè)背景等),可增加一頁(yè),加重闡述個(gè)人優(yōu)勢(shì)和特點(diǎn)的篇幅(但一定要言之有物,寫出來的東西一定是只適用于自己個(gè)人的)。
對(duì)于由面試成績(jī)來決定是否錄取的學(xué)校,PS可相應(yīng)精簡(jiǎn)篇幅至一頁(yè)。但三大部分的內(nèi)容必須都包括,同時(shí)也要做好準(zhǔn)備,在面試時(shí)能夠口頭詳細(xì)闡述PS里提及的每部分內(nèi)容。

一、動(dòng)機(jī)(或者又叫“你為什么要申請(qǐng)這個(gè)學(xué)校、專業(yè)?”)
對(duì)于一些沒有電話面試,直接審核材料決定是否錄取的院校,對(duì)于你申請(qǐng)他們學(xué)校以及選擇這個(gè)專業(yè)的動(dòng)機(jī)是什么,意愿是否強(qiáng)烈和純粹,幾乎完全是從你的PS里在分析。
學(xué)校的官網(wǎng)擺在那里,各個(gè)專業(yè)的具體介紹,課程設(shè)置,都可以從網(wǎng)上下載獲得。但是一千個(gè)申請(qǐng)者來看同一個(gè)學(xué)?;蛘咄粋€(gè)專業(yè),每個(gè)人看完之后的理解是不一樣。對(duì)于想去學(xué)習(xí)的某個(gè)城市的了解,對(duì)于某一門課程的喜歡與否,為什么喜歡,更是有很大差別的。因此,這部分內(nèi)容的體現(xiàn)一定是建立在你明確自己的興趣和志向,并且基于對(duì)學(xué)校和專業(yè)的了解,才能真實(shí)并且生動(dòng)地展示給學(xué)校的。因此,在闡述這部分內(nèi)容時(shí),一定要盡量避免使用“XXX學(xué)校世界聞名”,“法國(guó)是一個(gè)發(fā)達(dá)而浪漫的國(guó)度”,“XXX專業(yè)有很‘好’的就業(yè)前景,所以我很想學(xué)”……這樣抽象 模糊 過大 過空的字眼和句子。這恰恰是中國(guó)學(xué)生易犯的通病。
事實(shí)上,相比起這些空喊口號(hào)的概括性描述,反倒不如具體而明確地抓住這個(gè)學(xué)校和專業(yè)吸引你的某一個(gè)點(diǎn)來展開。想象一下你寫的每句話,如果老師反問你“為什么”,你要如何具體來回答。這樣寫出來的東西才是有血有肉,體現(xiàn)出你個(gè)性化眼光的。
對(duì)于國(guó)外院校的老師來說,申請(qǐng)某個(gè)學(xué)校及專業(yè),必然是為將來自己的職業(yè)而服務(wù)的。職業(yè)規(guī)劃也一定要避免“我想結(jié)束學(xué)業(yè)后進(jìn)入一所知名法國(guó)企業(yè)”、“畢業(yè)后我想做XXXX(專業(yè)名稱)相關(guān)的工作”、“我想為中法文化交流做出自己的貢獻(xiàn)”……等等這樣同樣抽象 模糊 過大 過空的句子,而是最好結(jié)合自己所學(xué)專業(yè)及個(gè)人的特長(zhǎng)和興趣,明確地指出自己所向往的行業(yè)、期望進(jìn)入的公司(可以只說公司性質(zhì),也可以舉例),以及部門或者職位。對(duì)于有創(chuàng)業(yè)理想,又申請(qǐng)商學(xué)院的同學(xué),能夠?qū)ψ约簩淼膭?chuàng)業(yè)規(guī)劃做一點(diǎn)簡(jiǎn)單描述當(dāng)然又會(huì)加分許多。職業(yè)規(guī)劃對(duì)于缺乏商科專業(yè)背景的同學(xué)來說,要寫得這么具體的確不簡(jiǎn)單,需要有一定的對(duì)經(jīng)濟(jì)和企業(yè)管理知識(shí)的了解,但正因?yàn)椴缓?jiǎn)單,如果能夠?qū)懙煤芫唧w又很有邏輯,那么對(duì)于彌補(bǔ)你專業(yè)背景缺乏是相當(dāng)有說服力的。
二、英語(yǔ)寫作基本水平
寫PS相比起雅思寫作,沒有時(shí)間限制,還可以隨時(shí)查字典,貌似是簡(jiǎn)單得多了。但是同樣,學(xué)校對(duì)PS的質(zhì)量要求,標(biāo)準(zhǔn)也會(huì)同樣更高。一定要堅(jiān)決杜絕單詞拼寫錯(cuò)誤和低級(jí)的語(yǔ)法錯(cuò)誤,比如時(shí)態(tài)的前后一致,動(dòng)詞不定式及動(dòng)名詞的用法等等,這些都是特別忌諱的。同學(xué)們?cè)谕瓿梢黄狿S之后一定要反復(fù)檢查。
另外,詞匯量在PS里也是有所體現(xiàn)的,特別是形容詞和副詞的使用,表達(dá)同一個(gè)意思的詞不要過高頻率的出現(xiàn)。
此外還有句法。要注意長(zhǎng)短句的結(jié)合,主動(dòng)和被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)的結(jié)合。曾經(jīng)看過一篇PS,確實(shí)也沒有錯(cuò)誤,詞匯量也展示得比較好,但從頭至尾80%的句子都是“I”開頭,主謂賓的句式一用到底,讀起來自然很別扭。
這些需要你平時(shí)的積累,才能在書寫時(shí)下筆如有神了。
三、個(gè)人優(yōu)勢(shì)(或者又叫“為什么應(yīng)該錄取你?”)
和以上的“動(dòng)機(jī)篇”類似,留學(xué)163的每個(gè)申請(qǐng)者的情況和條件其實(shí)是有很大區(qū)別的,有的同學(xué)畢業(yè)于211名校,有的同學(xué)外語(yǔ)考試拿了高分,有的學(xué)生參加過眾多社會(huì)實(shí)踐甚至有比較出彩的工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)。對(duì)于自己的優(yōu)勢(shì),一定要充分描述,用合理的邏輯引導(dǎo)學(xué)校老師認(rèn)為你“完全能夠適應(yīng)學(xué)校的學(xué)習(xí)生活”,充分相信你能順利完成學(xué)業(yè),你一定會(huì)有一個(gè)美好的職業(yè)前景。對(duì)于自己硬性條件方面的不足,例如缺乏實(shí)踐經(jīng)驗(yàn)、缺乏專業(yè)背景、外語(yǔ)成績(jī)小分沒有達(dá)到的學(xué)生,可以稍做闡述,或者讓老師覺得并非你主觀原因,當(dāng)然更好的方法是突出你可以從哪些方面彌補(bǔ)這些劣勢(shì)的強(qiáng)烈意愿。在這一部分,除了用華麗的詞匯描述之外(華麗的詞匯有時(shí)僅僅能增加外語(yǔ)方面的印象分),更多的時(shí)候建議留學(xué)163的同學(xué)們可以通過一些生動(dòng)的事例來體現(xiàn),也就是我們俗稱的“講故事”。這一部分內(nèi)容,除了在PS里適當(dāng)做一些展示之外,推薦信同樣也是起到這個(gè)作用的。

Dear Sir or Madam,
I would like to apply for the English-Taught Master degree in Communication Engineering, which starts in December 2011. I am a BSc(Eng) in Telecommunications Engineering with Management, which is a joint degree program between Beijing University of Posts & Telecommunications(BUPT) and University of London.
Reasons for choosing CE of RWTH Aachen
I had spent nearly two years seeking the way of my life from 2007 till 2009.
Initially, as a freshman, I concentrated on the work of Student union and Beijing IETYME (Institution of Engineering and Technology Yong Member Section). As a result of my hard work, I was elected vice president in the third semester. However, instead of feeling much pleasure and excitement, I could not work up too much enthusiasm for the iterative activities.
Then I understood that the work of organization management didn’t really fit me. Naturally, I transferred my focus to study. I was heartily satisfied when I overcame puzzles even though the two-year distraction brought me great difficulties at the beginning. Since then, I started to realize that this should be the way of my life.
I also found that I am most attracted by subject concerns with communication systems and excelled in courses such as Introduction to the Communication, Telecommunication Systems, Signals and Systems Theory, Internet Protocols, Digital Signal Processing and Microwave & Optical Transmission.
Through these courses, I learnt the simple infrastructure of communication system and basic theories such as Sampling, Quantization, Channel Coding, Queuing Theory, Fourier Transforms, Wireless Network, Digital Filter Design and Routing Protocol. However, I was still confused with questions like what parameters would influence the practical operation of equipment, how to integrate the single units, how can I make improvement to avoid disadvantages of existing theories.
In the summer of 2010, I participated in school laboratory which took charge of MIMO System optimization, one of national key scientific research projects. I keenly felt the lack of knowledge over that period, and was figuring how to exactly calculate the channel capacity in different conditions, how to instantly transfer channel state information (CSI) to transmitter antennas, how to apply the ideal model in the complex realities. I found these questions very fascinating.
Obviously, it is impossible to solve those questions with the current knowledge I leant in my undergraduate period, thus I decided to further my study. Another important reason is that what we learnt lags far behind reality, which can’t support me in operating advanced equipment. For example, the 8051 microcontroller I learnt in the course of ‘Microprocessor System Design’ was applied in 1990s.
While doing microwave experiment, my teacher mentioned that among the top three companies: Anritsu, ROHDE&SCHWARZ and Agilent, which produce VNA, R&S owns the unparalleled predominance compared with the other two companies.
Germany owns the most advanced technologies, the best research groups, first-rate industrial technology and rigorous elite education system, which strengthen my wish to continue my studies in Germany.
