From an early age I have been intrigued by the human mind and how it works. This interest has been enhanced through my study of psychology. Although I have only studied this subject for a relatively short period of time, I have enjoyed the variety the A-level course provides and I feel I have had a sample of different fields of this subject. I have particularly enjoyed studying comparative psychology because I am interested in how the human mind can be explained in evolutionary terms and how we can be compared to non-human animals.
I have always enjoyed mathematics, both learning and application. I have relished the course I have taken at college as it has a variety of areas and the opportunity to study different branches. I have particularly enjoyed areas of pure mathematics that I have covered since commencing A-levels and I have developed my enthusiasm for algebra by applying it to different problems. I also feel that my statistical background will be advantageous to my psychology work. I have enhanced my assessment and evaluation skills through my A-level in Religious Studies, particularly the modules on philosophy and ethics. I feel that my study into ethics is advantageous when applied to the highly problematic field of psychological research. My logical approach was also demonstrated with my AS-level in economics which gave me the opportunity to interpret data and the effect different factors have on a situation.
I demonstrated my people skills when I undertook work experience at a local special needs school after I had completed my GCSEs. This week gave me the opportunity to assist teachers and carers with large groups of children of different ages and abilities. This included helping heavily disabled children with Physical Education lessons, autistic children with art classes and aiding pupils with severe epilepsy to do basic numeracy and literacy. I also helped a group of teenagers, most older than myself with a range of physical and learning disabilities, to do basic cookery. I found this week very rewarding, although it was both mentally and physically taxing as children had to be supervised, and often assisted, at all times.
My part-time job at a doctor's surgery has made me more a responsible individual as I deal with patient confidentiality. I have also become more confident and gained a great deal of common sense as I deal with, and reassure, members of the public.
In my free time I enjoy participating in a variety of different activities. I am a member of a local gym which I attend several times a week, I am a keen horse-rider, I regularly go on skiing holidays and I have recently started Salsa dancing. I have also participated in Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards and hope to start my Gold Award. I particularly enjoy the planning and undertaking of expeditions as they are physically challenging and encourage teamwork. I also enjoyed the 'service' required for the awards. For my bronze award I helped at a local Brownie Pack and this included helping to prepare activities and going away on a 'Pack Holiday' residential weekend with the girls. I was able to do this through my links with Guiding, I was a member of this organisation for ten years and was presented with my Baden Powell Award, the highest achievement that could be gained by a Guide.
I am a keen musician and I enjoy the clarinet, gaining Grade 2 with merit 5 years ago before focussing on pieces that I enjoyed including those in a Jazz-style in 'the Peter Brown Band'. and .I have been a member of several choirs, the highlight being performing Honnegar's Joan d'Arc in the BBC Proms in the Albert Hall as a member of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir. As a member I also sang in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, the Liverpool Cathedral and on 'Songs of Praise'. I am an active church member and I regularly volunteer at fund-raising efforts.
At college I am a charity representative. This position of responsibility involves fund-raising and selecting charities that the college supports, a role which I take seriously and enjoy doing. For my silver Duke of Edinburgh award I volunteered at my local Oxfam shop for sixth months. I enjoyed meeting members of the public and working with others volunteers to raise money. I have also taken part in my church fund-raisers and I am currently training for the Liverpool Ladies 10km Run next year in aid of a local hospice.
I am a logical thinker and this, combined with my enthusiasm for the human mind, leads towards a future in a scientific field of psychology. The combination of my interests logically suggests a career such as that in ergonomics and this idea has been encouraged by a recent meeting that I had with team of psychologists concerned with Health and Safety.

二、韓國(guó)本科留學(xué)條件
1、學(xué)歷要求
學(xué)歷條件方面,學(xué)生要有高中學(xué)歷或同等學(xué)歷,包括職高、中專畢業(yè),在國(guó)內(nèi)接受完12年教育。目前,韓國(guó)首爾地區(qū)的絕大部分知名院校都要求學(xué)生提供高中畢業(yè)證,地方大學(xué)相對(duì)寬松,高中或者中專學(xué)歷都可以,但國(guó)立大學(xué)很少接受中專畢業(yè)生申請(qǐng)。所以學(xué)生要提前向?qū)W校了解清楚,而且還需要提交符合要求的高中畢業(yè)證、高中三年成績(jī)單,以及會(huì)考成績(jī)驗(yàn)證報(bào)告等學(xué)歷材料。
2、語言要求
如果不是全英授課或者中文授課項(xiàng)目的學(xué)生,就需要先在國(guó)內(nèi)進(jìn)行語言的提升,或者選擇進(jìn)入韓國(guó)語學(xué)院學(xué)習(xí)。從韓語基礎(chǔ)開始學(xué)起,不斷提升聽說讀寫的能力,然后再參加IK考試,努力考級(jí)。專業(yè)的韓語測(cè)試會(huì)根據(jù)學(xué)生能力的不同進(jìn)行分級(jí),而入讀的本科,至少要達(dá)到5級(jí)以上,才能夠保證自己可以跟得上授課的安排,當(dāng)然本身的能力也要能夠匹配自己出示的成績(jī)。
3、文書要求
文書寫作需要時(shí)刻以展示自己的優(yōu)勢(shì)為目標(biāo),不需要長(zhǎng)篇大論的夸獎(jiǎng),而要簡(jiǎn)明扼要的說明自己獲取的成果,以及將所有基本的信息進(jìn)行直觀的展示,讓人抓住重點(diǎn)。要注意推薦信寫作人的身份和地位,而且對(duì)自己也要有一定的了解,如果沒有很深的了解的話,需要花時(shí)間熟悉,然后才能寫出有說服力的文書。
韓國(guó)留學(xué)文書準(zhǔn)備指南
1、簡(jiǎn)歷
韓國(guó)一般只有個(gè)別院校會(huì)要求提交簡(jiǎn)歷,比如高麗大學(xué)。但是在申請(qǐng)之前如果想和教授進(jìn)行套磁的話,有一個(gè)簡(jiǎn)歷是非常不錯(cuò)的選擇。
簡(jiǎn)歷的特點(diǎn)要高度概括,大家要提取自己的閃光點(diǎn)放在這里,這樣可以讓教授對(duì)你產(chǎn)生深刻的印象。
另外,由于韓國(guó)大學(xué)會(huì)嚴(yán)格規(guī)定自我介紹的字?jǐn)?shù),所以你可以把你覺得需要補(bǔ)充的其他方面放在簡(jiǎn)歷里去寫。
簡(jiǎn)歷中需要至少涵蓋你的個(gè)人信息、教育背景、所獲榮譽(yù)、個(gè)人重大影響事件、發(fā)表的著作、參加社團(tuán)組織及其他能力和愛好等。
2、自我介紹
自我介紹也可以簡(jiǎn)單理解為“動(dòng)機(jī)信”,意思就是寫出自己的申請(qǐng)動(dòng)機(jī),也就是為什么要申請(qǐng)這所學(xué)校和這個(gè)專業(yè)。自我介紹是一個(gè)讓教授了解你、認(rèn)識(shí)你的機(jī)會(huì)。
在自我介紹中要體現(xiàn)出你的生長(zhǎng)環(huán)境、學(xué)習(xí)能力,相關(guān)經(jīng)驗(yàn)以及明確說明你是一個(gè)合格的申請(qǐng)者并有能力勝任該階段的學(xué)習(xí),或者研究任務(wù)。
由于申請(qǐng)韓國(guó)的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)愈加激烈,所以大家一定要仔細(xì)看自己的自我介紹是否有特色,是否能抓人眼球。切記不要用模板,教授可能每天看到上千封的文書,都是千篇一律的話完全沒有一個(gè)想要錄取你的推進(jìn)點(diǎn)
另外,一些學(xué)校還有固定的要求比如字?jǐn)?shù),超過了字?jǐn)?shù)就無法在線完全輸入,另外還有一定要闡明清楚哪些學(xué)校要求說明的點(diǎn),每個(gè)學(xué)校固定要求都不一樣。
3、學(xué)業(yè)計(jì)劃
學(xué)習(xí)計(jì)劃,對(duì)于申請(qǐng)文書來說是重中之重,可以說韓國(guó)大學(xué)基本上是從申請(qǐng)人的學(xué)習(xí)計(jì)劃中了解你寫論文的能力的。
在專業(yè)的區(qū)分方面,絕大部分專業(yè),例如社會(huì)學(xué)、哲學(xué)、商科、傳媒等,都是需要寫學(xué)習(xí)計(jì)劃的的。首要目的是考察申請(qǐng)者的語言能力。如果能寫出很漂亮的韓語文書,至少也從側(cè)面證明你有使用很流利的口語的潛力,而這對(duì)這些專業(yè)申請(qǐng)是非常有幫助的。
在寫的過程當(dāng)中決不可寫的比較空,比如“我入學(xué)后會(huì)努力完成教授課題”、“入學(xué)后計(jì)劃繼續(xù)增進(jìn)韓語能力,努力考6級(jí)”。如何去完成教授的課題,如何去考出topik6級(jí)這些點(diǎn)需要細(xì)化,列出來具體的實(shí)施計(jì)劃。
4、推薦信
一般本科是不需要推薦信,研究生是需要的。
韓國(guó)很多學(xué)校都有自己固定格式的推薦信要求,一定要嚴(yán)格按照規(guī)定格式準(zhǔn)備推薦信。
不少學(xué)校都要求申請(qǐng)人提交2封推薦信,所以推薦信的質(zhì)量也成為了決定大家能否被錄取的關(guān)鍵因素。韓國(guó)院校希望通過熟悉你的客觀而誠(chéng)實(shí)的介紹來了解申請(qǐng)人,也希望從第三方角度看到申請(qǐng)人的性格特點(diǎn)、科研能力、學(xué)術(shù)水平、組織能力和領(lǐng)導(dǎo)能力等。
韓國(guó)院校也會(huì)很嚴(yán)格審核學(xué)生提交的推薦信,他們會(huì)通過電話或郵件的方式聯(lián)系寫推薦信的推薦人去核實(shí)內(nèi)容。
