SYLVIA: So, what do you plan to do today?

SHARON: There is a Matisse exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. Larry and I will go.

SYLVIA: Did you buy tickets already?

SHARON: No. Do we need tickets?

SYLVIA: Well, probably. Probably you will have to wait in line if you don't have tickets.

        SHARON: Outside or inside?

        SYLVIA: Outside, on the sidewalk.

SHARON: Hmm. It's very cold today. But I brought my jacket. Maybe it will be alright to wait.

SYLVIA: The MOMA is very popular. There will be a lot of people.

        SHAROM: "MOMA"? What's that?

SYLVIA: Oh, sorry. It stands for the Museum of Modern Art. It's an acronym. M O M A "MOMA."

SHARON: I see. Do you have any suggestions for other things we should do?

SYLVIA: I suggest you go to the Jewish Museum. It's not far from the Guggenheim, near Central Park. It is really very interesting. Also, there is a great museum ofmedieval European art further up north. It's called the Cloisters.

SHARON: How can we get up there?

SYLVIA: You can take a bus.

SHARON: But Larry says the neighborhoods in the north are dangerous.

SYLVIA: Some places aren't good to go.But I can show you the right bus to take. It will be no problem.

SHARON: We want to see the Statue of Liberty too.

SYLVIA: I have never done that myself. But I hear it is very interesting. You two should go.

SHARON: You have never gone to the Statue of Liberty?!I can't believe it! But you live here!

SYLVIA: Yes, but I'm very busy with work. And you know how it is, sometimes people don't visit the tourist sites in their own country.

SHARON: I know. Are the subway trains easy to take here?

SYLVIA: Oh, yes. I recommend the subways. They are very fast, faster than taxis. And the maps are very clear. Just be careful you don't get off in the wrong place.

SHARON: Thank you for all this advice, Sylvia. Let me pay for our breakfast today.

SYLVIA: No, absolutely not.You are a visitor here. When I come to Illinois, then I will let you pay.But here, I think of you as my guest.

SHARON: You are treating us too well.

SYLVIA: I am happy you decided to come.It gets cold here in winter, but there are many many things to do.

SAM: It sure is hot. Why don't we go in the Haunted House? At least it will be air conditioned.

ALICE: I've told you a thousand times. I don't want to go in the Haunted House. It's tooscary!

SAM: Well. Maybe I'll go alone then. I really don't want to miss it.

ALICE: Go alone if you want. I will wait at that cafe and have a soda.

SAM: It might take a long time. Because there is a line, you know.

ALICE: I know. But if you don't go in the Haunted House, you won't be happy. So I will wait for you. It's no problem.

        SAM: Thanks.

        ALICE: How was it?

SAM: I'm sorry it took so long.

ALICE: Don't worry about it. But how was it?

SAM: Alice, it really was great.I think it was the most interesting thing here. You really should go in.

ALICE: No, I don't want to.

SAM: Really. The special effects are fantastic. You shouldn't be scared. You would really enjoy it.

ALICE: Sam, I never like Haunted Houses. When I was a kid, I didn't like them. when I was in high school, I didn't like them.when I was in college, I didn't like them. So why should I like them now?

SAM: But this is maybe one of the best Haunted Houses in North America! It's different.

ALICE: Why don't we go to the Epcot Center instead? They have displays from many cultures around the world.

SAM: I saw that in the guide. It looks like they have different restaurants and different kinds of architecture.Do you want to go?

ALICE: Yes. That is something I will enjoy.

SAM: Alright, let's go then. How many tickets do we have left?

ALICE: We still have most of the tickets we bought. We can go on a lot of different rides if you like.

SAM: I was only interested in the Haunted House and the roller coaster rides. The other rides are for kids.

ALICE: Let's start walking to the Epcot Center then.According to this map, it is up this pathway here.

        SAM: Alright, let's go.

DESK PERSON: May I help you?

CAROL: Yes, I would like to check in.

DESK PERSON: Do you have a reservation?

        CAROL: Yes, my name is Carol Jiang. That's spelled J - I - A - N - G.

DESK PERSON: I'm sorry, Ma'am. I can't find anything under that name.Do you have yourconfirmation number?

CAROL: No, I don't have it with me.But I know I have a reservation. My husband made it for me last month.

DESK PERSON: Well, let me look again. How do you spell your first name, Ma'am?

        CAROL: C - A - R - O - L. Carol.

DESK PERSON: I don't find a "Carol" in the computer for today.I have a Carol Larson here. But that reservation is for next Monday.

CAROL: No, that's not me. My name is Jiang, not Larson. My husband reserved for me.

DESK PERSON: Are you sure he used your name, Ma'am?Maybe he reserved under his name.

        CAROL: His name is Lin, L - I - N.

DESK PERSON: I'm sorry. I have nothing here.

CAROL: Miss, I know he made this reservation for me.

        DESK PERSON: Hmm. Let me try something.Wait. I have a reservation for someone named "Jang" here. But it's spelled J - A - N - G. It's not spelled J - I - A - N - G. It's for a "Mr. C Jang."

CAROL: Oh, that must be me! Probably they typed the name wrong. My husband's English isn't so good.

DESK PERSON: Yes, sometimes it happens, Ma'am.That's why it is always good to carry your confirmation number.I'm sorry about the inconvenience.

CAROL: It's okay. It's probably my husband's fault. Is there a pool in this hotel?

DESK PERSON: Yes, of course. The pool is open until 10:00 p.m. So you still have about 45 minutes.

        CAROL: Good.

DESK PERSON: Here is your key. Your room is 379.You can find the elevators just around that corner there, down the hall.Enjoy your stay, Ma'am.

        CAROL: Thank you.

J - I - A - N - G。

        卡蘿:C - A - R - O - L??ㄌ}。

J - I - A - N - G。
