Egg Donor
One day, while Sue was cleaning under the bed, she found a small box. Curious, she opened it and found 3 eggs and 10,000 dollars. A little bit suspicious, she confronted her husband of twenty years about it.
"Oh, that," Frank said. "Every time I cheated on you, I put an egg in this box." Sue was a bit unhappy about this, but figured that 3 affairs over twenty years wasn't so bad.
"But what about the 10,000 dollars?"
"Every time I got a dozen, I sold them."

Now here in the UK we spend £863 million a year on 5 billion eggs. Those figures from Kantar Worldpanel are enough to make your head spin, particularly at this time of the morning. But despite seeing nearly 10% growth in their market over the past year British egg farmers say there's still room to expand. Well, this week we'll be looking at the industry from henhouse to plate. And despite challenges from imports and the rising cost of feed for their hens, Andrew Jorêt, chairman of the British Egg Industry Council, told me producers are optimistic.
I think at the moment it's a good time to be in eggs. Over the last decade, I would say, we've seen per capita consumption rise from just about 170 eggs per person to about 195 last year. And I think there's lots of things. I think we've removed the sort of historic barriers that there was Salmonella and cholesterol. But it's not just that of course. I think there's also lots and lots of interest once more in cooking. And look at the number of baking programmes there are, which all feature eggs.
And interestingly when you look at the figures, free-range eggs have seen this 5% year-on-year increase. But non-free-range eggs, box-standard eggs, I suppose you might call them, are up 19% year on year, which would suggest that people are shopping for the cheaper end of the market.
